Rocky Botanic Garden and Zoo

Da werden wir uns im nächsten frei rumtreiben.

Rockhampton Botanic Gardens

Spencer St., Rockhampton, QLD, Australia.
This surprisingly mature garden for a regional town like Rockhampton, boasts a large, well kept garden and even contains a zoo. Rockhampton actually has two botanical gardens, the other being the Kershaw Gardens in North Rockhampton that you can take a separate virtual tour for. Along the many walking tracks you can admire some beautiful flowers, stroll through a huge fernery, see how the bottle tree got its name, walk around the Japanese Gardens or just relax at the Kiosk. The children can enjoy the spacious playground and be thrilled by all the animals at the zoo including a huge bird aviary and koalas. You could even have a picnic down by the water next to the Murray Lagoon. To remember "days gone by" you can get up close to a war memorial gun or see the Cenotaph that honours the people who fought in the Vietnam War, World Wars 1 & 2, the Korean, Malaysian and Borneo Campaigns. Every year an event called "Arts in the Park" is held at the Botanic Gardens which includes many stalls, a live performance stage and if you're really lucky, you might see the beautiful Sabaya Bellydance group strutting their stuff in front of a captivated audience!
